India all set to commence largest vaccination drive from May 01. In India there are two vaccine, Bharat Biotech's COVAXIN and Serum Institute of India's COVISHIELD and now first batch of Sputnik V will come in India on May 01.Â
In India clinical trial of Russian Vaccine Sputnik V has been done under Dr. Reddy's Laboratories.Â
Sputnik V also get green signal from 60 countries.Â
Sputnik V shows 97.6% efficacy.
1. How Sputnik V works
It is based on Adenovirus-26 (Ad26) and Adenovirus-5 (Ad5), these virus are responsible for cold, cough and other respiratory problem.
It imitate like corona virus's spike protein. and when person get vaccinated, the immune system get activate against spike protein and start producing antibodies.
2. Efficacy rate
The Gamaleya National Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology,Russia claims that Sputnik V gives 87.6% efficacy in a single dose of vaccine.
3. Gap between doses
Second dose will get after 4 to 8 weeks from single dose.
4. Storage Temperature
Sputnik V can store in liquid form at 18.5 C and in powder form at 2-8 C.
5. Variable Dose
Sputnik V is a viral vector just like Covishield. Sputnik V has a regime in which both doses of the vaccine are different from one another.Â
6. CostÂ
Russia had earlier indicated that the vaccine could be available less than $10 per dose.
6. Side effect Sputnik V
Most reported adverse events were mild, including flu-like symptoms, pain at injection site and weakness or low energy.
