Zika Virus cases reported in India : Symptoms, Prevention and Treatment

Amid COVID19, Black fungus, White fungus and  now there is Zika virus reported in India.

Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram districts reported total 13 Zika virus case on Thursday. the collected samples were sent to the National Institute of Virology, Pune, according to news report in The Hindustan Times.

The first case of Zika virus were reported in a 24 year old pregnant woman from Parassala, woman was admitted to the hospital with symptoms- Fiver, headache and red spots on skin. 

What is Zika Virus

• Aedes species mosquito are responsible for Zika virus. these mosquitoes bite during the day and night.

• Zika virus can be passed from a pregnant woman to her fetus.

• Till now there is no vaccine or medicine for Zika

Transmission

• Through mosquito bite

• Pregnant woman to her fetus

• Blood transfusion

• Sex

• Organ Transplant

Zika Virus Symptoms

According to CDC many people who are infected with Zika virus won't have symptoms or will only mild symptoms.

Some common symptoms

• Fever
• Headache
• Joint Pain
• Red eyes
• Rash
• Muscle pain

Symptoms can last for several days to a week. People rarely die from Zika virus.

According to WHO "An increased risk of neurological complication is associated with Zika virus infection in adults and children including Guillain-Barre-Syndrome, neuropathy and myelitis.

Prevention

Till now there is no medicine or vaccine to prevent Zika.
Protect yourself and your family from mosquito bite is the only best way to prevent.
