Chia seeds and basil (or sbja) seeds are looking similar in appearance. 

Both the seeds are highly nutritious and scientifically proven their health benefits, in this article we will tell you difference between chia seeds and basil seeds and will figure out that which one is better for weight loss :

 

What is chia seeds?

Chia seeds are oval in shape and grey with black and white spots. chia seeds are edible seeds of Salvia hispanica.

Chia seeds can absorb the water up to 12times their weight and develop the mucilaginous coating after soaked.

Chia seeds are the native to central and southern Mexico.  

What is Basil seeds?

Basil seeds are quite similar to chia seeds.

Basil seeds also known as Tukmaria or sabja seeds which look like chia seeds, it is not only for growing basil plant it is more than it, it contains lots of proprieties.

Difference between chia seeds and basil seeds

Although both the seeds are quite similar in appearance and nutritional value too but there are some differences which make them different from one another. 

Basil contains more fiber, protein, and carbs than chia seeds and chia contains more healthy fat and omega-3 fat than basil seeds. 

Chia seeds takes more time(people soak them overnight) to absorb water than basil seeds. 

You can eat chia seeds raw or cooked but you can't eat basil seeds raw, can only consume after they are soaked in water. 

Weight loss: Till now we know that both the seeds are quite similar in term of appearance and nutrition, but in order to weight loss it is considered that chia seeds can be more beneficial for you than basil seeds because there are very limited studies that claim basil help weight loss but you can add both for better results.
